NipponWalk is made by Chu Ventures (“we”). This policy explains what the NipponWalk iPhone app and this website do with data. In short: the app has no accounts, and your walks stay on your iPhone and in Apple Health. If you buy NipponWalk Pro, our payments partner RevenueCat processes your purchase with an anonymous ID.
The NipponWalk app
What the app stores, and where:
- Your walks (date, time, minutes walked, rounds completed): on your iPhone, to show your week, streak, stamps and monthly challenge.
- Your stamps and settings (warm-up, voice, weekly goal, reminder days and time): on your iPhone.
- Workouts in Apple Health: with your permission, each finished walk is saved to Apple Health as a walking workout. The app doesn't read any data from Apple Health.
- A reliability log (when each voice cue was scheduled and played): on your iPhone, kept for your last 20 walks, never sent anywhere.
- No account. You never sign up or give us your name or email in the app.
- No analytics, advertising or tracking. The app contains no analytics or advertising SDKs and doesn't track you across apps or websites.
- Your walks never leave your device. We don't run a server for the app and receive none of your walk data.
- Reminders are optional and are local notifications scheduled on your iPhone. No push service is involved.
- Apple Health data is never used for advertising, never sold and never shared with third parties.
Purchases (NipponWalk Pro)
NipponWalk Pro is sold through the App Store. Apple handles payment; we never see your card or Apple Account details.
- To know whether Pro is active on your devices, the app uses RevenueCat (RevenueCat, Inc.), which receives your purchase history (which plan, when it started, renews or ends) together with an anonymous app user ID created on your device.
- This ID is random. It isn't your name, email, Apple Account or device identifier, and it isn't linked to your walks, which never leave your iPhone.
- We use this only to unlock Pro and restore it on a new device. It isn't used for advertising or tracking and isn't sold.
- RevenueCat processes this data on our behalf under its own privacy policy.
This website and the beta waitlist
- If you join the waitlist, we store your email address, whether you told us you have an Apple Watch, and the time you signed up.
- We use this only to invite you to the beta and tell you when NipponWalk launches. Email us to be removed at any time.
- The waitlist is stored in a database on a server we operate. It isn't shared with marketing or advertising services.
- To prevent abuse, your IP address is kept for up to 10 minutes as a rate-limit counter. It isn't stored with your email.
- The website uses no advertising or analytics trackers and sets no tracking cookies.
Your choices
- You can allow or revoke Apple Health access at any time in the Health app (Sharing → Apps → NipponWalk) or in iOS Settings. Workouts already saved stay in Apple Health until you delete them there.
- You can turn reminders off in the app's Settings or in iOS Settings → Notifications.
- Deleting the app deletes everything it stored on your iPhone.
- To see or delete your waitlist data, email nipponwalk@chuventures.com.
Children
NipponWalk is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their data.
Changes and contact
If this policy changes, we'll update the date at the top and describe the change in the app's release notes. Questions? Email nipponwalk@chuventures.com or see the contact page.
